Who We Are
Far River mediation was born from a desire to trim down problems, and a lot of frustration with the court system.
Mediation has become increasingly popular, and most cases that can go to mediation are ordered to do so by the court, simply because mediation works. By being able to work with both parties, or even multiple parties and their attorneys, a trained mediator can find innovative solutions and can bring the parties much closer together, often solving the problem entirely.
At the same time, court has, frankly, gotten worse. Budget cuts and staffing issues mean that even simple cases can take years to settle, and the courts can generally only craft judgments that only barely fit the needs of the parties.
We wanted to do more. Two spouses fighting over a potential divorce need an agreement that’s smart, that’s realistic, and more than anything, can be arrived at without spending years and thousands of dollars in court.
